Stress Management and Brain Training
Stress kills
Yes, we have heard health experts say this before. According to Dr Paul Rosch, a medical scientist and stress expert, stress is one of the main causes of heart disease, cancer, lupus and respiratory diseases. Being under constant stress will exhaust your body and mind. Brain training is one of the ways to rejuvenate or tired a personality.
The American Medical Association points out that 75% of diseases are attributable to stress. The World Health Organization (WHO) has identified stress as a major health problem for Americans. Physical health is not the only factor affected by stress. Stress can cause depression or anxiety attacks, which translates to seeing a doctor get a prescription. Studies have shown that brain training can actually help people suffering from depression and anxiety.
Neurofeedback or Neurotherapy will determine the brain waves and brain regions that trigger these problems. Eventually, the patient will receive training or instruction on how to re-create a calm state to overcome symptoms. However, not only depression and anxiety can cause mental health problems. Chronic stress can also cause the death of neurons or brain cells. Chronic and long-term stress may impair brain functions such as memory and motor skills. Stress can also affect the ability to concentrate.
Relaxation techniques, exercise, and a healthier lifestyle can actually help relieve stress. However, brain training can help achieve longer results. Brain training to reduce stress can take the form of meditation, imagination, and even self-hypnosis. In a study led by Michael I. Posner, professor emeritus of psychology at the University of Oregon, and Yi-Yuan Tang, professor at the Institute of Neuroinformatic and Mind-Body Laboratory, Dalian University of Technology, Dalian, China, meditation can reduce stress. In their study, a group of people who meditate (a type of brain training) can reduce stress, reduce cortisol release, and improve concentration within five days of training.
Meditating means more than maintaining a certain posture and chanting for a long time. Meditation also includes body relaxation, breathing exercises and visual images. When meditation is combined with physical exercise, both physically and mentally, there will be more benefits. Yoga is a form that combines breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, body movements and even imagery. A brain gym is also a good place for brain training through physical exercise. These gyms also incorporate nutrition and stress management into their plans. Interestingly, these centres allow children and adults to enjoy brain challenges. Children, office workers and the elderly can enhance their brain exercise by participating in memory games, visual and auditory challenges, and other mental stimulation activities. Those who have been using brain training as a form of stress relief report many benefits, such as increased creativity, energy, better and being relaxed.
Stress should not be considered a normal situation or situation. There are different ways to deal with and reduce it, and brain training may be one of them. But this is a question of making choices and taking actions to become stress-free.
